Raspbmc iPlayer – Stream Already Playing Error

February 12, 2014 Leave a comment

While using my Raspberry Pi with the Raspbmc OS the iPlayer add-on crashed and the only way to resolve the issue was a reboot of the Raspberry Pi.

However when I tried to run the iPlayer software again I kept on getting the error message

“Stream Already Playing, unable to open stream, to continue, stop all other streams (try pressing X)”

To correct this problem you need to click the “force release resume lock

The “force release resume lock” option is located by doing the following

From the main Raspbmc screen do the following

System Tab

Settings

Add-ons

Enabled Add-On’s

Video Add-On’s

iPlayer

Configure

Advanced

Click force release resume lock

After a while you should receive a message that the release has been succesful and iPlayer should start working correctly again.

How to easily enter safe mode in windows 8

May 26, 2013 Leave a comment

windows-8-logoOne of the comments I received this week was

“How do I get to safe mode in windows 8 ?”

Now I have yet to enter safe mode on my test Win 8 virtual machine but I decided to investigate the problem to save people some time in future.

After a quick google search and testing with my Win 8 virtual machine the best way I found was proved by Microsoft themselves and can be found at the following link

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809468

Which will show you how to add a safemode to the bootmgr which lets you gain access to the windows 8 safe mode.
